A new blog

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Lara. I am an early childhood special educator, and a mother of a sweet little boy who has now gone to live with Jesus. My husband and I lost our son when he was 17 months old, and at that time I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life next. I had put everything on hold so that I could stay home and be a mom. At the time our son died, my husband and I were both unemployed, so we ended up moving shortly afterward when my husband found a job.

After a time of searching, a friend emailed me a job posting for an early interventionist position, so that I could help other families who suspect or are experiencing delays with their children's development. Because I did not have the education yet to do the job, I got hired as a paraprofessional. My new boss referred me to start a masters degree in early childhood special education. I am now working as an early interventionist and early childhood special educator, and my degree is ALMOST finished!

I've started this blog to record some of the things I've learned along the way, and to provide links to the resources that were an encouragement to me. I hope that this will help others know, love, and motivate children — and their parents! — throughout life's challenges.
